Outer Wilds Art

Ask and You Shall Receive

Not too long ago I wrote a blog post titled An idea for video game creators. I had a feeling that while it was a good idea, it wasn’t necessarily unique – and I was right! I recently started playing Outer Wilds because of this thread on hacker news. I threw it on my wishlist and when it went on sale, I snatched it up.

This is a pretty trippy game. I don’t want to explain it because I think going in blind is best, but one thing I wanted to mention is there is a log inside the game – and it keeps track of everything you’ve done, where you’ve been, what you’ve seen, and if there’s more to do in an area. Everything I’d hoped for when I wrote my original post.

It’s unreal what a quality-of-life gamechanger this is for someone who doesn’t have a ton of time to play games and usually has breaks of 2-3 weeks between gaming sessions. The logging system coupled with the fact that it’s honestly just a really good game makes it worth picking up. Oh and fair warning – you need to play with a game controller, so make sure you have one of those handy.
